Delhi Youth Parliament is bringing hope for a change to the risks children face daily in being on the road in Delhi, to reach their schools, and is engaging itself in developing solutions for a smart green planet.
Following the UITP Youth Strategy, “The smart green solution” , that set the goal to double the market shares on Public Transport in 2025, Delhi Youth Parliament produced a video and technical reports, presented at the Opening Ceremony of the Symposium on BRT and Public Transportation organized by DIMTS in Delhi , last 20th of January 2010.
The video and the reports where highlighting the point of view on Young Delhi Students from High Schools, Colleges and Universities, on how to reduce congestion and pollution, and contribute to a greener planet.
Respect for the environment and mobility for everyone everywhere, especially in the biggest cities of the world like Delhi, were the main issues of their presentations.
Presentations that identified areas and proposed solutions to the decision –makers and operators presents during the Symposium.
After the presentation, many of the components of the Youth parliament committed themselves in continuing to take action for their city and country, being part of the Executive Committee group of Youth for Public Transport, our new born group!
They are already settling ( as all the other UITP Youth Parliaments around the world ), a plan of actions to be undertaken from now on till the UITP World Congress in Dubai 2011 in their country.
